District Council planning officers have used their delegated powers to refuse planning applications for a takeaway and restaurant in Rayleigh.

The first was for a takeaway at 12 Station Road, opposite the station. This has been refused permission because it would probably cause parking problems around the Castle Drive / Station Road junction and also cause a nuisance (especially in the evening) to adjoining residents.

The second was for restaurant in Church Street Rayleighm and has been refused because of the ‘unacceptable increase in noise and disturbance, especially in the evening and late at night, as well as the emission of food smells’ being detrimental to nearby residents. This application has been discussed at length on the echo website
