“In high rainfall or freezing conditions it is outright dangerous “

There’s a lengthy item on FixMyStreet about Ferry Road in Hullbridge here. With a link to lots of photos.

Drains higher than road surface

Ferry road was resurfaced several years ago. Ever since, extensive flooding occurs both sides of Ferry Road and Windermere Avenue whenever it rains due to the drains being higher than the road surface. In high rainfall or freezing conditions it is outright dangerous for pedestrians who are forced to wade across it and risk soaking from passing traffic. The overflow is causing flooding on adjacent properties. The problem is situated in a high footfall area since it’s right outside the Riverside Medical Centre and Old People’s Day Centre. Further photos including flooding can be seen here: http://tinyurl.com/bvtrjju

I should also add that this problem has been notified repeatedly to Essex Highways for several years and despite promises and even someone coming to make paint fluorescent markings (now worn off) has yet to be fixed. I am fed up of my driveway flooding everytime it rains due to poor drainage management.
