The Hawkwell Contests

There are three District Council elections in Hawkwell.

Hawkwell North is a straight fight between John Jeffries for Labour and Robert Pointer for the Conservatives. Lucy Cox is stepping down.

Hawkwell South is a straight fight between Emily Barker for Labour and the Current Conservative Councillor Phil Capon.

Both of these seats were held comfortably by the Conservatives last year.

Hawkwell West is a more interesting contest:
The sitting councillor is Conservative Chairman of The Council Derrick Stansby , who is stepping down. So the Conservatives have put forward Liz Marlow as their candidate this time. Liz has served on the council before as a member for Hockley Central.
Labour have veteran campaigner and former councillor Myra Weir. Myra is well known but came a distant third last time.
The third candidate is Rochford Residents Party candidate Christine Mason. Christine is the wife of Councillor John Mason, who won here last year by 105 votes.
It could be a tight contest, but Christine must stand a good chance of winning, particularly after all the effort the Masons have put in opposing the Conservative Council’s plans for housing in Hawkwell.
