There’s an interesting ‘first’ on the Echo website tonight.
There’s an article about a circus in Rochford – with 3 elephants- and one of the commenters was critical of the Echo giving publicity to the circus by writing about it.
So for what looks like the first time ever, the Echo editor Martin McNeill , responds directly on his website:
People can make up their own minds about whether to go this circus.
The Echo’s report gives both sides of the issue and contains relevant information such as the circus contact number.
However, our editorial Comment on Page 8 of today’s newspaper makes our position clear. It is headlined: Let’s ban animal circuses.MARTIN McNEILL,
Editor
One of the other questions raised on the Echo site is whether Rochfird DC should actually ban circuses with animals.
Absolutely agree, animal circuses have no place in today’s world. It is cruel to keep these huge animals in tiny cages and haul them round the world!
By the way admin, did Rochford District Council have to give the circus a permit for the circus to perform in the district?
