Terry Cutmore, the leader of the council , should be walking around with an extra spring in his step this week. Why? The Audit Commission have just improved the council?s rating from ?weak? to ?good?. And thank goodness for that ? council officers had to put in an awful lot of work in preparing for the inspection process, it would have been gut-wrenching if it had been wasted effort. So congratulations to the staff involved.
The council didn?t deserve a ?weak? rating last time, so this result reflects an improvement in the Audit Commission as much as it does an improvement in the council!
