The Echo reports here on which new buildings have won Rochford District Council’s architectural awards this year – and the new Rawreth School building is one of them.

The overall winner is the new family home built in the Chase, Ashingdon , and it’s a very worthy winner indeed. The Echo actually understates things by describing the building methods used as ‘traditional’ .The dedication in recreating something like an Elizabethan house is almost overwhelming – for example, the oak doors were left in hawthorn hedges so that they could get woodworm (which was then treated, leaving the holes in place).
