At a meeting of the Licencing and Appeals Committee on the 21st July 2022, Councillors took the decision to increase taxi fares in the Rochford District.

Reasons given for the demand for increases by the licenced trade were

• Increases in the cost of running a taxi
• Increases in general inflation
• Comparisons to other transportation cost increases
• Affordability for the customer compared to average wage increases

Proposed increases in fares

With the demand outstripping the supply of taxis, it’s quite possible that this may bring the supply and demand back to an equilibrium.

For some, it may well well influence their first choice of transport in our district.
