Last night the District Council’s Planning Committee approved five social housing schemes but refused the one proposed for Hambro Close. The results were:

Tendring Avenue: Passed by 19 votes to 6 after a lengthy debate
Bardfield Way: Passed by 19 votes to 4 after a shorter debate
Warwick Drive, Rochford: Passed without a vote. Ward members were satisfied.

Hambro Close: REFUSED by 16 votes to 7 . After the ward members (Cllrs Gibbs and Grey) had complained about the parking situation there, Chris then moved refusal on the grounds of “loss of residential amenity” (for the existing residents) and “substandard amenity space” (that means the gardens for the new flats were too small). Chris’ motion was then seconded by Cllr Grey.

Hardwick Close: Passed without a vote or debate.
Dobson Close: Passed without a vote.
