Rayleigh Residents Are Concerned Too

Chris Black, Jackie Dillnutt and Mike Nobes attended an excellent meeting tonight arranged by Louis Drive Residents Association. The meeting discussed the proposals for housing , employment land and travelelrs sites.

About 160 people were present and they were not happy with the proposals or with the District Council. Lots of residents will be responding to the consultation.

It really would be better if the consultation period could be extended for anaother week….

  • It’s an interesting point about extending the consultation. I know some people and am aware of others who are still stuck abroad and are not even due to come back before the 1st of May.

Without the “ash” problem they would have been back last weekend with nearly 2 weeks to respond, now they will be unable to respond at all.

  • So that’s another request to the council to extend the deadline. If they do hopefully they will do it sooner rather than later so everyone realises they have that extra time to organise things. It would be mean for the council to say on the 29th that they’ll extend the deadline by a week, if they were to extend it should be announced asap.

  • Just out of interest, Mark Francois is no longer a member of parliment until he is re elected, if he is? Does the same rule apply to local councillors ? if so are they in office to make decisions about the Allocations DPD Discussion and Consultation documents or are they leaving it to Shaun and his team ?

  • If I reemember correctly, local coucnillors stay in office until a new coucnillor is elected and signs the declaration of acceptance of office.

I believe if someone is chairman of the council , and up for re-election, but not re-elected for soem reason, that’s a special case,. They remain a councillor until a new chairman is elected, very early at the Annual Council meeting.

  • That is right Chris. Notwithstanding (and NOT because !!) my seeking re-election I am still very busy dealing with residents issues in my Ward which, quite rightly, take me away from campaigning. But I agree that such referrals give me a contuning chance to demonstrate why a good independent ward councillor is worth having. For example, I have had to deal with one very difficult planning issue involving enforcement, help explain an enforcement situation going to Appeal and help the Royal British Legion appeal against a decision made by Chelmsford Borough Council (RDC have outsourced)on a rating issue.

  • Hello everyone, could I have an updateon this subject to see if the deadline has been extended as myself and a fair few others in Louis Drive only found out about this last night.

  • Well as usual the residents seem to be the last to know….I only found out about this today and as I live along London Road just down from the proposed traveller site I am excessively worried.

  • If the Travellers site is granted off London Road, would the existing Travellers off the A1245 have to move sites or would this be an additional site, as I believe the A1245 site has temporary planning permission?

  • At what point in time does an unofficial site become official?
I firmly believe that the proposed site on the junction of A1245 and A127 (Rayleigh Spur)is an excellent choice.
