From Brian Guyett:
The Hockley/Rochford area (postcodes SS4 and SS5) has had 7/8, fairly brief, power cuts over the past three evenings.
EDS say the problem its likely to be a loose connection or a snow-laden tree brushing against overhead wires tripping a circuit breaker. Their priority is people still cut-off since Thursday(!) and they have no one at present to walk the lines to check for a fault.
It would be helpful if you could publish this on your web-site asking for anyone who spots a possible problem to report it to EDS (08007 838 838).
FYI, the HRA web-site is currently down due to a technical problem, so we can’t publish it ourselves.
The District Council website reports:
Advice on power outages in the District
EDF energy have released the following message with reference to the power outages across the District.
?EDF Energy Networks has additional staff working to resolve these faults but as travel conditions are so poor it is extremely difficult for our engineers to patrol our overhead lines and reach faults in many areas. As a result, repairs will take longer than normal to complete.
EDF energy would like to remind customers to stay well away from any power lines that have been brought down.
There are additional call takers working from a number of centres but at this stage they are not able to indicate when power supplies will be restored and are concentrating on taking urgent safety calls.
EDF energy appreciate how difficult it can be to lose power, especially in cold weather, and would like to apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.?
