Positivity At The Punch Bowl

We wrote last month that the District Council decided NOT  to allow the Punch Bowl pub in Paglesham to be turned into an ordinary  house. If you support that decision, and want to see country pubs survive , it follows that you should think about using them!

In our tradition of supporting local food and drink ,someone from onlineFOCUS visited anonymously today. The place was reasonably busy and the current owners are making strenuous efforts. For example, they are now offering an enjoyable all-day breakfast. You get a big portion for £7.95, and an even bigger one for £9.95. The sausages are big, the bacon is good, coffee or tea is included,  and they are friendly and flexible if , say, you don’t like egg or tomato. Plus they have plenty of other choices – the breakfast is just an addition to their menu.

Plus this is a real country pub. In terms of country Paglesham is about as rural as anywhere in Essex, and in terms of pub they have some fine beers from as far away as Cornwall.  The building itself is over 500 years old.

If you support the District Council’s decision NOT to allow the pub to be turned into an ordinary house ,definitely consider paying them a visit. (Check opening hours here.)
