Rayleigh High Street From the Tower

Not good news.

Levels of ?Nitrogen Dioxide are still above national agreed levels ?in parts of Rayleigh Town Centre. (Nitrogen Dioxide is a pollutant that comes from, amongst other things, ? vehicle exhausts. ) The District Council is now planning to set up an “Area Quality Management Area” and is consulting ?the public on how big an area it should cover.

Find out more on the District Council Website here.

  • Pretty dumb question as it obviously should cover everywhere. All of us will want the highest air quality surely. I am amazed at some of the research that is carried out and ends up stating the blindingly obvious. Even Oz must agree with this.

  • Bruce, yes in this case I agree but, of course, I would want to see the actual figures first….

ps: Admin – Any news on my suggestion re: Voting buttons, has it gone the same way as support for the Lib Doomed..

  • Oz , I will email you later re buttons. There’s a good reason why it’s not been done yet.

And regarding the Lib Dems, you know how to wound don,t you. 😉
But in all seriousness, we,ve just gained two council seats in by elections, one from an independent in Rutland, one from Labour in York.

I think when people respond to opinion polls about the party, we do poorly. But when people have the chance to vote for actual individuals in the Lib Dems that they know and like , they are generally still doing so.

That’s why I think individuals like Sir Bob Russell will do well. It helps that he voted AGAINST increasing tuition fees. And when I email him with a question , he normally replies within an hour. Not too shabby when I,ve never even met him , and live about 25 miles away. So I imagine he does a good job for his constituents.

  • Bruce. Part of my objection to the OUTLINE PLANNING APPLICATION ON RAWRETH LANE / LONDON ROAD concerned Air Quality. I question why Air Pollution monitoring equipment had mysteriously disappeared from Rawreth Industrial Estate just prior to the current application. Given RDC regard RIE as a ‘bad neighbour’ due to dust etc., this after they agreed residential building up to its’ boundary, is that not at the very least ‘surprising’? Could that have been a ‘private’ decision re.Phil Capon so that the said present application would avoid pollution ‘hurdles’ as it will have the effect of enclosing this ‘bad neighbour site’ preventing the dispersal of the dust across fields as is currently the case? Just a thought.
