Our Lib Dem colleagues Chris and June Lumley have a serious issue in their ward at the moment – there is no traffic patrol in London Road, Rayleigh , close to the entrance to Sweyne Park School.
The police have been trying to recruit a new lollipop lady or man, but it seems to be taking a long time. Meanwhile Chris and June have seen pupils gathering together in a group and then walk out into the road en masse. Fortunately most motorists stop, but there is an accident waiting to happen here…
Chris and June have written to the school, and have spoken to the county council. It seems that someone has now been interviewed for the position but the required police checks on the applicant are still being done…
