More Info On The Tories’ Ideas

These are the figures that the Conservative Group are proposing for new housing to be built up to 2021:

SW Hullbridge 450
Ashingdon and E Rochford 500
W Rochford 550
NE of Rochford 75
Hawkwell 365
NW Rayleigh 190
SW Rayleigh 550
Canewdon 165
Stambridge 75
Great Wakering 365
Hockley 36

These figures add up to 3321,

A few points to mention here:

  • The District Council has to allocate land because of central government instructions
  • These are simply proposals at the moment – it looks like the Council will go out to consultation again before making any further decisions. So be ready to write!
  • These figures are very precise – we suspect that the Conservatives already have specific sites in mind.
  • About the author, admin

  • 740 houses is a lot better than 1800.

However, West Rayleigh has all the houses and East Rayleigh has none, so I think the traffic will only get worse in the London Road, Crown Hill & Downhall Road area.

  • 740 house’s is far better then 1800, lets hope they are affordable housing for local people as the younger generation already living in rayleigh cannot afford the property prices and it would be a good foot on the ladder for them.

The west side of Rayleigh has already seen too much housing, they should consider different areas, as the roads are already very busy.

  • This is a quote from the “In Touch” leaflet for Whitehouse ward:

“The Labour Government says that Rayleigh should have more houses.
    Probably around 1800 by 2021.”

I thought it was the Regional Assembly which stipulated 3699 homes and the Tory district administration who initially decided that 1800 of these should be in Rayleigh, or am I missing something?
