Michelins Farm Planning Application

An application has been received to develop the land at Michelins Farm (location of the great tyre fire). It’s hard to work out the exact plans due to the ‘dial-up’ speed of RDC’s website and we will seek further clarification of the plans in due course.

Hybrid planning application: full planning application for erection of buildings for use within Classes B1(c), B2 and B8 with access and servicing arrangements, car parking, landscaping, drainage features and associated highway works (Phase 1); outline planning application for up to 33,500 square metres of employment uses (Classes B1(c), B2 and B8) including means of access with all other matters reserved (Phase 2).

We look forward to hearing from the 3 Conservative Ward Councillors on this application, mainly as this land was earmarked in the core strategy for an allocated travellers site and as we’ve previously commented there are plenty of illegal travellers pitches across the district but no legal ones provided.

  • If you check all the documents available from the planning application you would have seen that 1 acre has been allocated, so maybe you need to read all the documents available to you, before you add this information to the general public, maybe you need to download all of the information, read it and then comment, half a job Henry.

    • If you read our post we did make that quite clear “It’s hard to work out the exact plans due to the ‘dial-up’ speed of RDC’s website and we will seek further clarification of the plans in due course.” – the information is already in the public realm as it is published on the RDC website and we’ve even included the link to make it easier for our readers. We hope this clarifies the position for you as you may have missed it.

  • I must admit I always thought that site would have been ideal as a recycling centre to replace the castle road site. I’m sure the road access could have been sorted so it would be far better organised than the current paltry offering in Rayleigh, especially now RDC residents cannot use the Southend facility anymore…
