People of working age claiming Jobseekers Allowance on 9th July :
Rayleigh – 1293 (down from 1303 people on 14th May)
Rochford and Southend East – 3323 (down from 3337)
Castle Point – 1818 (down from 1901)
Southend West – 1876 (down from 1923)
Presumably they will start to go up again when the seasonal summer jobs are over…..
Did the figures for people claiming disability increase or reduce as these people are unemployed as well.?
Martin, if you are claiming Incapacity Benefit or ESA you can not claim Job Seekers Allowance at the same time – the unemployment figures will only show those actually claiming JSA. What I would say however, is that not everyone that is entitled to claim JSA actually does, and therefore the true unemployment figures will be slightly higher than those reported.
