Regular readers of Onlinefocus may know that the District Council now has 3 area committees – West, Central and East.

As the council website explains:

Each Committee is concerned with local issues and provides a forum at which Councillors can consider matters raised by the public.

The West Area Committee comprises all the District Councillors in the Downhall & Rawreth, Grange, Lodge, Rayleigh Central, Sweyne Park, Trinity, Wheatley and Whitehouse Wards together with co-opted representatives from the Parish Councils, the Police and Essex County Council. The Chairman is Cllr J M Pullen

The Central Area Committee comprises all the District Councillors in the Hawkwell North, Hawkwell South, Hawkwell West, Hockley Central, Hockley North, Hockley West and Hullbridge Wards together with co-opted representatives from the Parish Councils, the Police and Essex County Council. The Chairman is Cllr D G Stansby.

The East Area Committee comprises all the District Councillors in the Ashingdon & Canewdon, Barling & Sutton, Foulness & Great Wakering, and Rochford Wards together with co-opted representatives from the Parish Councils, the Police and Essex County Council. The Chairman is Cllr C G Seagers.

Details of how to raise an issue at an Area Committee are set out below:

? Any issues you?d like to raise at the Area Committee need to be put forward during the Community Forum part of the agenda.

? To get your issue raised, you must complete a request form before the start of the Area Committee meeting. You can either fill in an online form, download the form or hand one in before the start of the meeting.

? In the Community Forum, dependent on the volume of questions, the lead officer will summarise the questions, and a sample will be asked at the meeting.

? Time permitting, we will try to answer as many questions as possible at the meeting, but we cannot guarantee to do so as we may not have all the information to hand.

? All issues raised will get a full response at the next meeting.

Their next few meetings are scheduled as follows. All meetings start at 7:30pm
