Going Out for a Sunday Drive?

Then don’t bother! It seems like a Sunday drive is a thing of the past if you actually want to go anywhere – drivers in Rayleigh have been delayed across the District with road works this bank holiday weekend. Residents took to Facebook to report problems in Hullbridge & Rayleigh, with roads at a standstill on A127, London Road, Lower Rd.

A lot of the cause of the additional delays (apart from the usual due to sheer Bank Holiday traffic) was roadworks, mainly gas repair/maintenance. Essex Highways is responsible for issuing the permits to the utility companies and it would appear that in their usual, incompetent way, that there has been no joined up thinking and ALL routes in and out of Rayleigh have come to a grinding halt.

If you’ve been stuck in traffic then do let your County Councillors know so they can take up the issue with the highways department
