I have just received the following email from the Rawreth Parish Clerk.
‘Good evening everyone,
I have just received?a call to advise that the water levels in the brook in Church road could rise significantly this evening, the sluices are?open at Battlesbridge and so?is the?tidal gate door, but a?big tide is forecast for 12.50am and this coupled??with the significant rainfall today which is set to continue throughout the night?could leave us with problems.??
The relevant parties who hold sandbags within the Parish have been alerted, but could I ask that you spread the word to those living in the closest proximity to the Brook.’
It’s a nightmare out there! Took me an hour to get to Basildon (via Wickford) and people have been waiting on Hambro Hill for an hour in traffic. Lets hope we are collecting most of the water, ready for the summer.
