A cloud of mystery had surrounded the reasons for the now ex Leader of the Council, Cllr Mike Steptoe, resigning from his post with just over a year in the role.

Tonight though, during the Annual Council meeting, the cloud started to clear with Cllr Steptoe referring to bullying, interference and control.

We don’t know to whom this refers but naturally we assume there will be a thorough investigation into these allegations to ensure both officers and Councillors are not involved in such practices.

We will look forward to the leadership of Rochford District Council giving further advice into their follow up actions in due course. Councillors have already raised concerns with the Managing Director these serious allegations.
