Essex Police Use of Technology was a Crime

Divisonal Commander, Chief Inspector Glen Westley, hosted an online ‘live’ Q&A tonight.

Although our initial reaction to this announcement was a good imitative by the force,  the reality of it was that we couldn’t help thinking that this was a rather, lack lustre engagement with the police and they failed to use the technology to connect with the community effectively.

It didn’t feel like there was any conversation and nothing really ‘live’ about the event. We really hope that Essex Police go away and think about how they could make it more engaging for people because in its current format we would say that it failed to attract the attention of the majority of the public.

For a taste of what we are talking about here’s the post.

  • Interestingly, this Q&A session wasn’t as engaging as the ‘specials’ Q&A prior to this one. Is this because Essex Police are ‘all guns blazing’ to attract specials to recruitment?
