According to the Echo:, the English Democrat party are standing in four seats in Rayleigh – Central, Lodge, Trinity and Whitehouse.

This will certainly make the elections more interesting this year. Three-way contests between ourselves, the English Democrats and the Tories are going to be hard to predict.

Well, the big battle is in Sweyne Park, Con versus Lib Dem. You will notice that the English Democrats are not standing there.

Then there’s the 4 wards in Rayleigh where the Eng Dems are standing. That makes them unpredictable three-way contests.

Outside Rayleigh, I just can’t see Labour gaining any seats off the Tories. I expect the B NP to stand in Hullbridge, Rochford, Hockley East and Great Wakering , but , despite their worst efforts, thankfully I don’t think they will win.

The Conservatives could lose a seat in Rochford to an independent.

(We should make a very big distinction between the B NP and the English Democrats. Although the English Democrats seem to walk around looking angry all the time, they are a ‘clean’ right-of centre party.)

The Tories may well make a gain in Barlin and Sutton.!

We still have lots of seats where we don’t have candidates. If you want to drop us a line, Jeff….

  • Is there an independant standing in Rochford?

I think this is going to be a very interesting year especially in Ashingdon – I wonder what will happen there
