Councillor Colin Seagers has kindly left the following comment on another thread – it’s worth making a new thread for this:

Further to reports and discussions on this thread and website regarding the poor delivery of the Rochford District Matters latest Autumn issue, I took the matter up with officers and gained the support of RDC Leader Terry Cutmore in taking the investigation further. You will doubtless be pleased to learn he has informed me that the contract of the new delivery firm involved has been cancelled due to its poor performance, and Royal Mail will again be handling the delivery of the Winter edition shortly.
Many thanks to those who responded either here or direct to RDC notifying non-receipt of their Autumn RDM edition. Please be sure to notify RDC in the hopefully unlikely event that you do not receive your Winter copy of RDM, as I understand some especially important information will be included in it.

  • Thanks to Cllr. Seagers for taking up this matter and for advising us of the its resolution. Hopefully people will read this, and the information regarding possibly important information in the Winter issue will be spread amongst other threads on other forums as well so everyone actually reads their copy and is fully informed as to what is going on.

  • I live in Rochford Central, and I did not recieve a copy of Rochford District Matters. However, I do remember seeing every fake door of the council offices in South Street having a copy laid outside it!

  • Please keep me informed- I have not received a copy of this. I live in West Rayleigh and need to know. It’s a shame that out local group had informed me of this as I would never have found out. I have yet to received one of these publications through my front door.

  • I live in Rawreth and definitely get the feeling that we do not exist as only get ‘Rochford Matters’ or any other publication when those proverbial pigs take to the skies.

  • For the first couple of years the word ,Rawreth, barely seemed to exist in the local plan. I had to specifically ask for each of the general areas proposed for housing to have their actual parishes identified…

‘Rochford DISTRICT Matters’ is the title and, unless you have declared UDI, Rayleigh remains a very substantial part of it. It also probably deserved to receive a far greater proportion of the DISTRICT’S new housing than it is currently allocated in order to accommodate its own growth in population.

  • Mr Seagers, you talk of what is proportionate in terms of strategy which I find rather interesting. Is it therefore proportionate for a single large traveller site for the entire Rochford district to be located in Rayleigh?

  • Cllr. Seagers. The probability is that most of the growth in population in this district will come from the west and not from within the RDC area at all. This has been the trend up until now and I do not see it changing. We are providing land and housing for the Thames Gateway.

  • Cllr Seagers – what growth, Deanes School has just lost it’s battle to stay open due to being 40% under subscribed and a falling birth rate –
that was the Councils basis to close
it. Greenbelt sums it up succinctly
    above – fact.

  • And by ‘substantial’ I assume you mean the “cash cow” income RDC are planning to expand on, Rayleigh being probably biggest contributor
    already – fact.
