The boundary commission has announced proposals for changing local government in Norfolk and Suffolk.

They are offering several variations , but all of them involve ending the “County and District” system and replacing unitary councils. And these would be BIG unitaries – up to the size of existing councils.

(Parish councils would continue unaffected).

It seems that central government can’t stop tinkering – or sometimes mauling – existing local government arrangements. And in nearly every case they go for the “bigger is better, let’s cut down on local representation” option.
