A new round of Area Committee meetings takes place in November.

The first one to take place will be the Central Area Committee on November 9th, covering Hawkwell, Hockley and Hullbridge. It will be held at Greensward School.

In addition to the usual public question time, there will be a presentation on Trading Standards.

It will be followed by East Area Committee in Canewdon on November 17th and West Area Committee in Rawreth on November 30th.

  • There is already a question on the Core Strategy.

I understand from reading the Echo that the Council has amended the Core Strategy and is undertaking a further public consultation.

How will the many residents who do not receive the local paper know about this?

Even if you have access to the internet you need to know that this Consultation is actually taking place to participate!!

Please explain what changes have been made and how these will effect Hawkwell, Hockley, Hullbridge and the very nearby parts of Ashingdon which comprise of the Central Area?

  • I do not receive local papers and would never have known about any of the Public Consultations if I were not involved with the local action group. Even if you do know how to access the online Consultation it is complicated and the ‘tick boxes’ are unclear. Even though I have been involved for the past two and a half years in the fight against houses for Hawkwell on behalf of The Hawkwell Action Group, I had to telephone John Mason for help in completing the questionnaire part of the Consultation.
