You can hold events like boot sales for a certain number of days each year without planning permission. But if you want to have one weekly, you do need planning permission.

The District Council now has an application to have a boot sale on every Saturday and Bank Holiday at Rayleigh Station Car Park.

If you are interested, you can find the application -and leave comments – via this page. Just type in the reference 12/00557/FUL to get then get to the application.

  • You lucky people round that area .Having experienced years of congestion in and around Battlesbridge and Rettendon you have so much to look forward to !With the Police cuts it does have the advantage they will not have to monitor the many questionable objects on offer at such a distance just take a walk down Crown Hill save on time and one less car ! Boot sales have lost the origional purpose and are now just glorified unlicenced markets .

  • Oh what joy!
Shame for all of those wanting to park to go up to London for work or pleasure on a weekend! I suspect that the £1 fee will now rise too?
Also I would like to know what the white lined spaces just behind the taxi rank are designated for use as at present? They do not seem to form part of the NCP and are not marked out for Premium Parking bays – in yellow. People are parking in them all day without tickets – either paid or penalty!
    Any ideas?
