Bins In Priory Chase

It’s been a struggle to get litter bins in Priory Chase, Rayleigh, before the road is adopted. It’s not something the District Council normally does.

But we’ve obviously been aware of the need for them, and been pressing for them, especially with the new fish & chip shop being built. Thankfully we’re nearly there now – the District Council have told us today they aim to install 3 litter bins along this road within the next 4 weeks (some will need concrete bases) . One will be on ASDA land sponsored by them and two either on council land or on a verge/ pavement with the agreement of Wimpey Homes.

  • Well, the District Council are responsible once the footway is adopted. They they might have some recourse to the shop if it became a problem.

Until it IS adopted that’s a good question.

  • RR, I regularly buy fish and chips from the Pegotty’s shop in Hadleigh. There is never any sign of grease and stains on the pavement outside and the the fish and chips are second to none. Looking forward to becoming a customer locally.

  • Noticed this morning, the bin at the top of Priory Chase where the Bridle Way starts had some visitors last night – probably foxes – quite a few bags, deposited by considerate dog owners where all over the floor – they were not there last night when I took the dog that way at 10pm. Perhaps the council could consider replacing an open top bin with one that has a cover?
