Not where your local library is concerned so it seems. Chancellor Phillip Hammond declared in his budget that era of austerity is finally coming to an endbut Councils continue to be squeezed.

The promises of Austerity coming to an end don’t appear to be realised here in our District and it would seem that even local Tory Councillors seem unconvinced as many of them appear to be campaigning to retain libraries that are earmarked for closure.

Just as they campaign against NHS cuts and lack of policing they seem to campaign against almost anything that is the net result of their party cuts! You could begin to wonder what policies they do support.

Are these campaigns a ploy to keep their voters onside or will their campaigning pay off? We think that 2019 will be a telling time for National political parties whatever their colours.
