The District Council Chamber is expected to be packed on 27th July, because the Planning Committee will be discussing the application for a change of use at Ashingdon Hall in Ashingdon Road.
The application is for a change of use from “Residential Care Home for the Elderly ” to “Rehabilitation Centre Providing Residential Accomodation and Care for People in Need of Care”. The residents will mainly be recovering from alcohol or drug abuse.
Although council officers are recommending approval, we know that hundreds of residents are very concerned about the application. As always, we won’t make our minds up in advance, but judge the application on its planning merits, as we are required to do under the Code of Conduct.
It should be a very interesting meeting!
