The Rochford District History Archive has just added some evocative photos of the Rayleigh Fire Service in the 1950s and 1960s, including the above vehicle, bought in 1929 but still in use in 1950, a fire at the Ladies Toilet on Crown Hill, and a forozen River Crouch at Battlesbridge!
