This week the development committee met to decide on the following item amongst others.
APPLICATION TO VARY THE EXISTING SECTION 106 AGREEMENT DATED 18 JANUARY 2017 TO PLANNING CONSENT 14/00813/OUT BY WAY OF MODIFICATION TO THE WORDING OF PARAGRAPH 4.3.3 TO ALLOW FOR AN EXTENDED TIMESCALE IN WHICH TO DELIVER THE ROUNDABOUT AT THE JUNCTION OF RAWRETH LANE WITH HULLBRIDGE ROAD TO 200 RATHER THAN 50

DWELLINGS
The applicant wanted to delay the completion of the roundabout until the 200th dwelling was occupied. Officers recommended for approval as they consider the developer is going above and beyond their obligations, however, Lib Dem Cllr Chris Stanley, moved an amendment to reduce this number to 150 dwellings, after considering the delays were not entirely the developers’ fault, with materials and workforce affected by COVID.
The committee resolved to approved the amendment by 8-5.
Question: Why is this roundabout so large, compare it to the new roundabout in Hullbridge. Is this roundabout paid by the developers of the new houses if so are they just using the money to impress us.
