Next Thursday’s committee meeting will decide three more planning applications:
Item 3) Demolish a car dealership in Southend Road, Great Wakering and build 9 houses and 15 flats.
This is an application for ‘shared ownership’ housing – so the homebuyers only buy a part share in their property, making it more affordable. The applicant is “Circle Anglia”, who manage 25,591 properties in London and East Anglia.
County Highways have objected to the scheme on the grounds of lack of car parking. There seems to be no comment so far from Great Wakering Parish Council.
The Planning Officers are recommending refusal on the grounds of:
Item 4) Change of use of part of existing allotments to outdoor sports and playing field for Great Wakering Football Club.
Another “big” application. The scheme includes a training area with floodlights, 1 adult sports pitch and 2 junior sports pitches. The allotments site is reportedly grassed and overgrown and surplus to requirements. County Highways do not object, and there’s no repsonse shown from Great Wakering Parish Council.
The planning officers are recommending approval of this scheme.
Item 5) Demolish bungalow at 30 Hockley Road , Rayleigh and build 20 flats, with access off Mill Field Close.
A very similar scheme was refused earlier this year by 17 votes to 6 and the applicant has gone to appeal (the appeal will be heard on December 12th). County Highways and Rayleigh Parish Council both object. There have been 26 letters of objection from the public.
The Planning Officers are recommending that the decision be delegated to the Head of Planning (Shaun Scrutton) to approve it once the applicants have agreed to provide ?28,100 to the County Council towards school places.
With 5 very significant applications, we expect next Thursday’s meeting will be a long one!
