Why isn’t it possible to look at the northern end of Rayleigh High Street on Google Street?

Bellingham Lane? yes, Websters Way yes, High street no…….

  • Go to the pedestrian crossing at Bellingham Lane, opposite New Look, and you’ll get a 3 way arrow to navigate further along the High Street.
You got me thinking there was a conspiracy at work hiding top end of the High Street!

  • Thanks for having a look.

Yeah, I see the 3 way arrows but if you click on the arrow to navigate further along the High Street is just zooms you up to the Church without stopping.

Or does it work differently for you? For example, can you stop right outside Feathering Your Nest or Ask?

  • Didn’t notice that, but yep, same problem here.
    Using Firefox Chrome and IE.

So, it is a conspiracy, and the shops are just fronts for something more sinister? 🙂

  • You’re probably right Sean. But it’s a strange omission !

And it doesn’t help attract new shops to the High Street. Probably not significant, but if High Street chains ever use Google Street to get a quick look at a location without driving here, it puts that part of the High Street at a disadvantage.

  • If High Street chains ever use Google Street View to get a look at a location….

In theory, yes. Given the huge amount of retail premises located in pedestrianised areas, shopping centres etc. I doubt Rayleigh is losing much business from not having part of it’s High Street on Google Street View.
