The Lib Dems gained four county council seats in Thursday’s elections – winning two from the Conservatives in Brentwood, one from the Conservatives in Epping, and one from Colchester.

Overall in Essex

The Conservatives went from 50 seats to 60
The Lib Dems went from 8 to 12
Labour went from 13 down to just 1

There are also 2 independents.

So the Liberal Democrats are now the official opposition party in Essex.
