Quite a lot of worthwhile stuff has been written in the last few days. In no particular order:

Basildon Tory Councillor Steve Horgan writes from the heart about Myeloma:

Being a Myeloma sufferer myself, I can only applaud the good work done by John in support of cancer patients everywhere. The good work done by the clinicians and charities in this field has turned Myeloma from a rapid death sentence to an unpleasant chronic condition for many people like me. I am grateful to them all.

Green Councilllor Michael Hoy has his own report on last Thursday’s Council meeting, as do Rochford Labour.

Meanwhile the Rochford Residents have written at great length about the housing issue here:

An Unsound decision will be disastrous for Rochford District.
.
What the Council needs to do is return to the public as soon as possible with proposals backed by a local housing study that residents will accept and request a Re-Examination.
.
If the Council does not do this then I fear the ultimate imposition of 5000 or even 6000 new homes when we may only need 2000 if the Council?s Housing Register figures are correct.

And finally Julian Ware-Lane muses about Amy Winehouse:

There have been calls for the legalisation of drugs, a debate that I have been prepared to listen to although my instinct is still for banning. I am no puritan, many have experimented and remain unaffected. But look at the members of the 27 Club and you will see that drugs have been a common factor in curtailing young talent far too early. So many what ifs in that club.
