Have you been up to the Mount?

Boasting spectacular views across West Rayleigh, the Mount is an ideal spot for a picnic or a bit of downtime within our town.

This was the only Essex castle mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. Like most of the early Norman castles, it was built from wood, on an earth mound or motte.

The National Trust has this website with all the details of how to get there (if you are new to the area) and it’s sure worth a visit.
