From the District Council website:

Local people who make a big difference to the Rochford district were celebrated at Rochford District Council’s annual Citizen of the Year Awards ceremony on Monday, May 8.

The overall Citizen of the Year 2017 award was presented to Dave Record from Hullbridge. Nominations received for Dave describe how he has been volunteering within the district, as well as nationally, for decades. Hundreds of people from a wide range of backgrounds, young and old, have benefitted from his work over the years, and he has remained committed and dedicated – even when faced with the most difficult personal circumstances. Dave’s assistance at events organised by Rochford District Council has also been invaluable. The nominators described Dave as: ‘enthusiastic’, ‘pivotal’, ‘a credit’ and ‘one of the nicest people you could wish to meet’.

Well done to Mr Record. Full report with details of other winners here
