Rayleigh Action Group held a public meeting on Sunday. Two of the onlineFOCUS team, Chris Black and Chris Stanley, were in the audience to listen.
The Echo have a report tonight:
CAMPAIGNERS want a judicial review to stop Rochford District Council build 2,785 homes in the next 15 years.
The call comes from a meeting of the Rayleigh Action Group meeting where more than 500 people turned out to show their displeasure at the plans.
The group would now need to raise ?30,000 in less then a month to fight the housing plan, which were officially adopted by the council two weeks ago….
Echo-news.co.uk Online now (tomorrow’s paper )………….. Amazing turnout for the
first hot/ sunny day / Big Rugby game , only hall capacity limited attendance – a pound each from everyone in Rayleigh is all it takes!!!!!
Jim,
I agree amazing turnout how and where can we donate to a foghting fund
Richard – see the Action Group Facebook page, details of bank account etc. are there for everyone to donate
Thanks Christine – there is a link on onlinefocus (RH sidebar Planning Issues heading)and on the rear of last Sundays meeting leaflet, cheers -JIM.
Just one question, what will happen to the money if you do not raise sufficient funds ?
Oz, as stated in the original RAG mandate any monies “left over” will ,in due course , go to a local charity ( or various local charities if it is a large amount) -that is why the Bank Account requires multiple signatures on cheques.
CHRIS – is it possible and how much notice is required for a resident to be able to address the Council Chamber , I notice one or two private individuals did get to speak on a set subject.
Because you are right we, the residents should do more, and I for one would like to say it out loud when a suitable topic is up for debate, thanks ….JIM.
