2 Crucial Meetings in September

We think there’s been about 700 objections to the District Council’s core structure plan for development. You can read them on the council’s website here.

Some people have asked us when councillors will discuss all the objections and comments. Well , two committee meetings have now been arranged for the 18th and 19th of September at 7:30, in committee room 4 of the Civic Suite in Rayleigh (next to the market car park)

The committee is called the Local Development Framework Sub-Committee and it has 6 members :

Cllr Keith Hudson Hockley Central Ward (Cons)
Cllr Keith Gordon Rochford Ward (Cons)
Cllr John Pullen Wheatley Ward, Rayleigh (Cons)
Cllr Colin Seagers Foulness & Great Wakering Ward (Cons)
Cllr Derek Stansby Hawkwell West Ward (Cons)
Cllr Chris Black Downhall & Rawreth Ward (Lib Dem)

  • Chris, the other five Councillors that are on the committee, are they open minded to what residents are telling them or in your experience are they a closed shop. Are these meetings open to the public, because if they are we need to get as many people there as possible. We may not be able to speak but at least we will be able to listen to what is being said. The outcome of these meetings will probably be key to some important decisions and ultimately will also be key to Rayleigh residents selling up and leaving or staying.

I hope these Councillors are aware of what may happen to their votes next year if they do not carefully consider what the people of Rayleigh want. Next door in Wickford they have an action group, we may see one here!
